The Great Synagogue in the town of Dubno constitutes one of the most interesting Jewish monuments in Volyn region. The building is a sample of synagogue construction of the 18th century, using stylistic elements of the Renaissance and early Classicism. The building of the synagogue that has survived up till present was built in 1782-1794. The synagogue in the town of Dubno is located in a majestic stone building that is 21 metres high. The dome is supported by 12 column pillars built in 4 rows. A rectangular building, with the premises attached to its western and northern facades, it is located in the former trade street where fish was sold (that is why it had the same name – Rybna). During World War I the synagogue was partially destroyed in the military actions and reconstructed in the 1930ies. After World War II the premises were used as a warehousing facility. Side by side with the synagogue the Germans arranged the Jewish ghetto.
