The first records about the monastery date back to 1846. At first the building was the Sts. Peter and Paul Church, but already a century and a half later, in 2006, under the decree of the Holy Synod, the parish was transformed into a monastery. The church is distinguished for its unique location – at the shore of the deepest lake of Ukraine. A real miracle happened in the church in 2001 – the Icon of the Mother of God became myrrh-streaming, this massively scaling up the number of visitors as well as contributing to the opening of the monastery there.
