The Maniava Monastery is an ascetic eastern-rite monastery, an important centre of spirituality, culture, and art of Ukraine. The monastery used to contain a large library, was famous for its main iconostasis performed by the Ukrainian painter Jov Kondzelevych.
In 1980 the Museum of History and Architecture was opened here. On May 28, 1998 the Maniava Exaltation of the Cross Monastery was opened here.
The architectural monastery complex of buildings makes up an ensemble of stone and wooden buildings fenced with a high stone wall with towers and fire slits — a perfect synthesis of the mountainous relief and fortification constructions.
